SIDE NOTE:
The Grout Museum of History & Science was founded by Henry Whittemore Grout, a prominent Waterloo resident, financier and state legislator who loved to travel and collect reminders of the places he visited, sharing these finds with children in the community. Nestled in Downtown Waterloo, the Grout Museum District consists of 5 sites (4 separate buildings).
The Norris Corson Family Planetarium has been part of the Grout Museum of History & Science since it opened in 1956. The Grout Museum of History and Science features permanent and continually changing exhibitions of area history, and is the only public planetarium in Northeast Iowa. The Grout Museum District is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
