UCLA Planetarium

SIDE NOTE:

A visit to the UCLA Planetarium consists of three parts: a special topic presentation, a current night-sky show, and (weather permitting) a telescope viewing.

The UCLA Planetarium is operated by the UCLA Department of Physics and Astronomy. With seating for 49 people, the UCLA Planetarium is a unique and intimate setting for visitors to learn about the universe. The facility offers shows to introductory astronomy classes, the Los Angeles community, and educational groups.

On clear nights, visitors are invited to look through one of the department telescopes after the planetarium show. You’ll view a variety of celestial objects, including planets, nebulae, and star clusters (depending on what objects are currently visible in the night sky).

Parking is available at many of UCLA’s parking structures for approximately $3.00/hour or at on-street meters on UCLA’s campus. The parking structures closest to the Mathematical Sciences building are Lots 8 and 9 (off of Westwood Blvd) and Lot 2 (off of Hilgard Ave).
